Home Ownership Programs

For the past three decades, the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership has been a key developer of affordable homeownership housing in the City of Rochester and Monroe County.  These opportunities provide stable housing, access to quality homeownership opportunities, and an opportunity for low and moderate-income buyers to build wealth through homeownership. These investments also help stabilize neighborhoods.

The Greater Rochester Housing Partnership operates single-family housing programs that strengthen neighborhoods and stabilize property values while providing affordable opportunities for home ownership. Our housing programs provide superior development and administrative services and customized financing while preserving long-term affordability.  

The Greater Rochester Housing Partnership has extensive experience partnering with public, private, and non-profit corporations to design and operate efficient and affordable housing programs.  The Greater Rochester Housing Partnership partners with the Rochester Housing Development Fund Corporation to administer the HOME Rochester and Make Monroe Home Program which provide newly renovated homes for purchase at affordable prices to low and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. More information about these programs is available at www.homerochester.org.  More than 850 vacant homes have been rehabilitated and sold to first-time homebuyers through these programs. In 2012, HOME Rochester underwent an evaluation to calculate impact and costs. The study was funded by Enterprise Community Partners. We learned HOME Rochester has a dramatic impact on individual properties and on neighborhoods raising property values of surrounding homes by $15,000 and leveraging millions of dollars in private and public financing. 

The Greater Rochester Housing Partnership also provides newly-constructed, high quality, energy efficient homes for purchase by low and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. Homes meeting the needs of various types of households in the City of Rochester have been developed through our Neighborhood Builders Program and as the City’s selected developer for their first Buy the Block project in Northeast Rochester.
